New Hotel Announced For Downtown Bentonville

A development group that involves Tom Walton announced plans Monday to develop a 0.60-acre site at the southeast corner of the downtown square in Bentonville into a full-service hotel. The hotel will be built on the Tucker's Corner site at 200 E. Central Ave., an office building now home to multiple tenants, including the Greater Bentonville Area Chamber of Commerce.

Daycare Worker Arrested In Bentonville On Misdemeanor Assault Charge

A daycare worker was arrested Wednesday on a misdemeanor assault charge after an incident involving one of the children at the daycare on June 5. According to the Bentonville Police, Corrine Lange, 59, of Bentonville was charged with third-degree assault, a class C misdemeanor. She turned herself in on Wednesday and was released with a court date.

NWA Pride parade, festival set for June 14-17

The festival, organized by NWA Equality, will kick off with several events scheduled around the region on Thursday and Friday night , before culminating with the annual parade and downtown festival on Saturday, June 16. The schedule kicks off on Thursday with a Dine with Pride progressive dinner at a handful of Bentonville restaurants, along with a Pride Party on the Patio at Dickson Street Pub, and a Pride Karaoke Event at Infusion on Dickson Street. Friday night, an evening of cocktails and film screenings are planned at the Chancellor Hotel.

Milton R. "Rusty" Cranford of Bentonville pleaded guilty this morning to bribing former Arkansas Sens. Jon Woods, Henry "Hank" Wilkins IV and an as-yet unnamed "Senator A" who court documents say received $500,000 in bribes, attorney's fees and tickets to the 2013 World Series from a Missouri-based nonprofit. Cranford pleaded guilty to one count of federal program bribery for his role in bribing the lawmakers as Arkansas director of Preferred Family Healthcare of Springfield, Mo.

William Ray Schmidt, 35, of Bentonville left an event at the City Pump on Walnut Street in Rogers in his BMW, Rogers Police said. Several witnesses said Schmidt had pulled into the parking lot at Somewhere in Time at 719 W. Walnut and was heard arguing over the phone with someone.

Siloam Springs man killed in drunk driving crash

Rogers police said early Saturday morning, Jerry Jackson of Siloam Springs was killed when another driver ran a red light. Officers said when they arrived on scene after 2:00 a.m. Saturday morning they Jackson not breathing, and despite administering CPR the 44 year-old died on the way to the hospital.
